16 Gennaio 2012Committee for the protection of the passengers
The victims of Costa Concordia will now have new means of assistance and protection. "La Casa del Consumatore" informs that the Committee for the protection of the Passengers, based in Genova, was founded with the aim of assisting the passengers and protecting their rights.
Within the next few days the committee is going to meet with the top management of costa crociere to come to a better understanding of how the company intends to cope with the consequences of the tragedy.
Based on the current laws we recall that Concordia passengers have the right to ask for a refund for the entire amount of the damage they suffered because of the accident. In particular:
-
reimbursement of the price paid for the cruise;
-
damage for the loss of personal effects (as passengers are now deprived of their luggage and travel documents);
-
refund of travel expenses paid for the early return or for any other consequence of the accident;
-
refund for the death or injuries caused by the accident;
-
refund for the ruined vacation;
The refund request must be submitted within 10 days from the moment passengers get home, by sending a letter raccomandata a/r to the tour operator.
The form to submit to obtain the refund will be available on the "Casa del Consumatore" website tomorrow.
For further information, advice or to join the committee please call 800 168566 or contact the committee at ctv@casadelconsumatore.it.
